The rinse or first steep was compromised by excess heat and handling time. Steeps 3–4 were the peak. Steep 5 declined; steep 6 collapsed despite retaining a thin body. A 100-second seventh steep revived leaf fragrance but not liquor flavor.
Dry aroma: Malty and lightly toasty
Wet aroma: Malty with an herbal or vegetal tail; aroma faded by steep 5, but leaf fragrance returned after the 100-second seventh steep
Taste: Steep 2 malty and lightly toasty with fresh sweetness and no floral lift; steep 3 becomes sweeter and fuller; steep 4 holds; steep 5 fades; steeps 6–7 have no flavor
Mouthfeel: Medium body on steep 2; thicker and velvety on steeps 3–4; less velvety and drier, but not dry, on steep 5; thin body only from steep 6
Finish: Strong smooth finish at the peak; drier on steep 5; absent from steep 6
